Summer office hours

I am not teaching this summer (which means I'm not getting paid, either, but that's another story) and therefore have no office hours set up. I am checking and responding to email and phone messages, but am not in the office on a regular basis.

Psychology/Sociology Club Meetings

Thanks to everyone who came out last week to watch the movie! Hopefully we can do it again next semester.

Don't forget that our next meeting is Wednesday, April 22 at 11:00 a.m. in Room 5. Brad Ray, director of the CASA program, will speak at that meeting. Also, nominations for next year's officer positions will be taken. If you want to run for an officer position for next year, please come to the meeting.

On Friday, April 24, we will go to visit the Sleep Disorders Clinic in Albany. We will plan to meet there at 9:00 a.m. We will discuss carpooling arrangements at the April 22 meeting, or you can contact Christian or me beforehand if you have any questions.

Our last meeting of the year will be Wednesday, April 29 at 11:00 a.m. in Room 5. Our speaker will be Stephanie Wynn, a social worker for the Davita Dialysis Clinic. We will also have elections at this meeting.

Office hours April 20-24

Because my daughter's spring break is from April 20-24, my normal office hours that week will be drastically cut short. Office hours that week will be by appointment only. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Psychology/Sociology Club Events

The Psychology/Sociology Club will not have its regularly scheduled meeting this week because of a scheduling conflict with our speaker. However, we will have still have our movie night on Wednesday, April 15 at 5:00 p.m. in Room 3. We are still not sure what we are going to watch -- the possibilities are endless!

Office hours on Thursday, April 9

I will not have my usual office hours on Thursday, April 9 because I have to go to a training session on how to use the new version of WebCT we will be switching to in the fall. I will be out of the office from 9-12 that morning. I apologize if this causes anyone any inconvenience.

Registration Information

If you are graduating at the end of the Spring 2009 semester, please disregard this notice. If you are not graduating at the end of the Spring 2009 semester, please keep reading!

Registration for Summer and Fall 2009 classes will begin on Monday, March 30. Only graduating seniors can register that day; everyone else's registration dates begin later. Please check your account on RAIN to see the first dates on which you can register. In general, though, the first day of registration is based on the number of credit hours you have completed (which does not include what you're taking this semester):

Students Graduating Summer or Fall 09 March 30
Seniors (90 hours or more) April 1
Juniors (60 hours or more) April 3
Sophomores (30 hours or more) April 7
Freshmen (fewer than 30 hours) April 9

As in previous semesters, you may register yourself if you have no holds on your record. Please check on RAIN to make sure you do not have any holds. If you have an "advisor hold", that means that you need to consult with me prior to registration. However, I encourage EVERYONE to consult with me prior to registration even if it's not required. This semester I am not scheduling individual appointments, but rather making myself available at different times on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you come at a time outside of those available time slots, I can't guarantee that I'll be able to meet with you. I will be available for registration assistance from 8:00-11:00 a.m. on the following dates:

March 31
April 1
April 2
April 3
April 7
April 8
April 9
April 10

If those times are impossible for you, please let me know and we can schedule a specific appointment at another time.

If you are not planning to come in the summer, that's fine; there's nothing special you need to do. If you are planning to take classes in the fall, I strongly encourage you to register now so you'll have the best selection of classes and won't space out on registering and then risk having to pay a late fee later. If you are taking summer classes here, please note that there are several summer terms. You may take classes in any combination of those terms as long as the times don't overlap. However, I recommend that you not take any more than two classes at one time -- for example, one class that meets in the full term and one class that meets in the first summer half session -- and that you only take one Maymester class if you take one at all.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Psychology/Sociology Club Meeting

The Psychology/Sociology Club will meet on Wednesday, April 1, at 11:00 a.m. in Room 5 (note the location is different from usual). We will finalize our plans to go to Fort Valley State University on Friday for their conference. If you are going on this trip you MUST fill out a waiver form if you have not already done so. If you need a ride, please either come to the meeting or contact Christian.
